What do you get when several former Disney animators and producers get together with audio and education professionals, all looking to do something new? First you have to get them all in one place -- in our case, Durango, Colorado. This is where we started GeeGuides, the company that produced geeART16, a web-based, animated art education program for kids. As with most creative endeavors, this one grew and evolved, and we learned a lot along the way. As our company and product changed, so did our name. Today Madcap Logic is taking the 21st century concept of visual literacy to a generation of tech-savvy kids with Creativity Express.
Keeping in mind our original vision of bringing the world of art to young people in a smart and engaging way, Creativity Express meets that goal and goes beyond the basics to teach not just the principles of art, but the history and meaning behind the visual messages art conveys. By combining art with principles and concepts from history, design, science and even math, Madcap Logic is helping pave the road to visual literacy and creative thinking which will enable students to communicate and succeed in an increasingly complex world. And, in our case, have a lot of fun along the way!
We take our commitment to bringing quality art education and visual literacy to your kids and ours very seriously. Don’t let the Wii system in the hall fool you – we work hard. We also believe in taking time out to enjoy and take inspiration from the beauty around us here in the Rocky Mountains with our families and with each other. We keep our communication lines open and everyone in the company contributes their own unique style to everything we do. We hope you find that our dedication and sense of fun is reflected in our products. We believe that it is.

Jeff Dutton
Creative Director
Although we have never seen the actual diploma, Jeff claims to have a degree in Design and Illustration from the Kansas City Art Institute. After graduating, it appears that Jeff worked for Walt Disney Feature Animation for fifteen years as an Effects Animator and as an Artistic Coordinator. We found his name in the credits on Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tarzan, and Lilo & Stitch, so this part of his story checks out. Jeff has won numerous awards during his career, including "Best Muscle Car" at the 2004 Lake Mirror Auto Show in Lakeland, Florida.
Mike Spokas
Animator
Mike Spokas' career began in 1996 with a BFA in Computer Animation from Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL. Upon graduation, Mike was offered a job at DreamWorks Feature Animation and before he knew it, he was driving out to California. He worked at DreamWorks for seven years doing Computer Generated Character Animation and had his hands in nearly all of their animated films from The Prince of Egypt to Sinbad. After DreamWorks, Mike decided to relocate back to Florida, (supposedly, he just loves palmetto bugs and humidity), where he worked at Disney Feature Animation doing CG character rigging and animation. Currently, Mike still resides in the sunshine state, but through the miracles of high-speed Internet, he is working as Madcap Logic's Lead CG character animator. Actually, he's the only CG animator.
