Durango, Colorado –Madcap Logic, in conjunction with Wacom and Ambient, is giving away free seats of a new type of curriculum package to the Durango Kids Kamp After School Program as a way of bringing attention to the need of teaching creativity to children. Creativity along with knowledge, has a direct link in developing problem solving skills, a need most experts agree will become increasingly essential in the 21st century.

Madcap Logic developed Creativity Express software in collaboration with many experts in the museum educational field. The product teaches children ages 7 and up skills such as critical thinking, visualization and many of the basic tools artists use in their work. The software features hilarious animated characters that lead the way on adventures that help kids explore creativity and imagination. It features hours of challenging activities and both traditional and digital art projects. In addition, Wacom has donated 28 of their award winning Graphire digital painting tablets and Ambient has donated 28 copies of their ArtRage 2.5 Plus digital painting program for the students to use.

According to the Arts Education Partnership and the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities, studying art improves performance as much as 25% in reading, history and geography. The California Arts Council found that children who study the arts score an average of 44 points higher in math and 59 points higher in verbal skills on their SAT’s.
